In no way do you want to "eat clean" or "detox" afterward, but you might be feeling out of your routine—like me—and craving healthy dinners to help you feel your best. This week, I'm making dinners that come in around 400 calories per serving and are ready in three steps or less to keep your prep as easy as possible.



The quality of the food we eat is more important than the number of calories it has, which is why these dinners are packed with nutrient-rich veggies, lean proteins and healthy carbs. Let's dive in.



 It's totally normal to eat more than you usually do during the holidays. It's all those special dishes—and times with friends and family—that make celebrating so special! I sure got my fill of herb-roasted turkey, melting potatoes and apple crisp with cranberries last week.

Constipation is the difficulty of passing out. This can easily killed someone if it is is controlled and in some cases many can have such a problem for some days without throwing out the waste product in their body. This is the reason one had to find out solution on time to avoid his anus been locked up and the body system stop to function. The circumstances in which it is difficult to perform defecation. Bowel habits are irregular can cause trouble for doing defecation. Some people when they have constipation, they will claim that it is simple thing and lay not credit to it until it becomes an issue that can not be handle in a single way

Symptoms:

Delays in the process of defecation outside the normal habits (3 times daily).

Difficult defecation should be straining.

Shape a small stool, dry and hard, uncomfortable stomach, heat and wind.

Many gases accumulate in the digestive and often fart

The cause:


Less fluid and fiber in the diet.

Less physical activity and exercise that cause contractions in the intestines weakened.

Hemorrhoids are enlarged and accompanied by heat and itching around the anus.

Prevention:

Drink lots of water and eating plenty of fibrous foods and exercise regularly.

How To Make Unripe Plantain Pottage

Unripe plantain pottage is a popular pottage dish in Nigeria, made with plantains. Plantains are the less sweet, starchier equivalent to bananas. But unlike bananas, plantains need to be cooked before eating. 




Cooked plantain is high in antioxidants and vitamins. It also generates a slow release of glucose and lowers cholesterol. Thus, plantain pottage is ideal for people with diabetes. 

This recipe uses only unripe plantain, which contains less sugar than ripe plantain. However, if you want a sweeter pottage, you can use half part unripe plantain and half part ripe plantain.

Ingredients

  • 5-8 Unripe plantains (depending on the size)
  • Smoked fish
  • 2 medium-sized onions
  • 1/2 cup crayfish 
  • 5-8 Scotch bonnet chillies (depending on your heat tolerance) 
  • Small bunch scent leaves (clove basil)
  • 1/2 cup palm oil 
  • 2 seasoning cubes (Knorr or Maggi)
  • Salt – to taste

Procedure

  1. Peel and dice your plantains, break your fish into smaller bits, chop the onions, slice the scent leaves and blend the crayfish & chillies.
  1. Add your plantains to a pot along with your chopped onions, blended chillies, and crayfish, seasoning cubes, and salt. Add enough water to cover (the water should be on the same level as the plantains) and cook on medium heat for 15mins.
  1. After 15mins, the plantain should be boiling. Add your palm oil and smoked fish. Cover and cook till the plantains are soft and mashable.

  1. Finally, add your scent leaves to the pot. Turn off the heat immediately; cover the pot and leave for 2-3mins (the residual heat will cook the scent leaves).
    After about 2 minutes, stir everything together and serve!

How to Make Nigerian Coconut Rice

 Coconut rice is an easy and tasty rice dish made by cooking rice in coconut milk.  Different cultures around the world have their take on this popular dish.

This recipe is my take on Nigerian coconut rice. It's delicious, easy, and perfect for when you're on a budget.

Ingredients

  • Rice - 2 cups (preferably local rice)
  • 1-liter Coconut milk
  • 1 medium onion
  • 6-7 scotch bonnet chillies
  • 5 small tomatoes
  • 2 tbsps cooking oil
  • 1/2 tsp Curry powder
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg powder
  • 2 Seasoning cubes
  • Salt to taste


Procedure:

  1. Soak your rice in hot water for about 5mins. Drain and rinse thoroughly till the water runs clear. Set aside on a sieve.
  2. Chop your tomatoes, chilies, and onions and set them aside.
  3. Heat your cooking oil over medium heat. Add Curry powder, nutmeg, and onions; saute for 3-5mins.
  4. Add the coconut milk to the sauteed onions and cook over low heat till hot. Do not let the milk boil to prevent it from curdling.
  5. Once the coconut milk is hot, add your rice, chilies, seasoning cubes, and salt. Cover and cook till done. Add your chopped tomatoes, mix and turn off the heat.
